Three years ago Nico Zacek, Germany’s number one freeski pro innovated the freeskiing world with an original event concept. The idea was simple: Nico built a distinctive jump obstacle and brought together the best athletes, photographers and film crews from all over the world and offered them perfect setting. From this winning formula NINE KNIGHTS was born and only three years later it has developed into one of the most anticipated freeski events in the world.

This big success was the reason why Nico thought about a female edition of his medieval spectacle. Who else could be the host of a NINE QUEENS Freeski event if not his good friend and Völkl team mate Virginie Faivre from Switzerland? Virginie, the former FIS- halfpipe world champion and repeated winner of the European Open, is now looking forward to inviting some of the best female freeskiers like Kaya Turski, Grete Eliasson, and Eva Patscheider to their contest highlight of the year. From March 11th to 16th the great skiing resort of Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis in Tyrol (Austria) will be the host location for the NINE QUEENS chateau, a unique jump- and jib feature, built by the Schneestern crew who also built all NINE KNIGHTS obstacles. Some outstanding photographers and film crews will be on hand to record the best that the world’s female freeskiing royalty has to offer.

On Saturday, March 16th there will be a freeski contest especially for the public – so pack your bags, come to Serfaus and watch the girls throwing down their best! For those of you who like a little apres-freeski celebration, come to the Afterparty in Fiss to celebrate with the queens at the Nine Queens afterparty

“It is an amazing opportunity that most freeskiing women have been dreaming of! The ski industry is full of great events which are for the guys only, though.
Nine Queens finally is a girl dedicated event. We will get the chance to have the full media attention and the best riding conditions to show the freeskiing world how hard we are ripping. All that will happen at an especially designed obstacle, the “chateau”, which will allow the girls to push their limits and to progress our sport. Nine Queens is going to offer us the perfect environment to bring female freeskiing to the next level! I am very excited and proud to host this great event and I am really looking forward to it.

Since I founded the male version of the event Nine Knights, three years ago, I always had the plan to offer our female colleagues the same amazing possibilities that we have created for the guys. I´m super proud to have the best athletes from all over the world coming to Serfaus/ Fiss/ Ladies and ski their „chateau“. I´m even more happy to have Virginie Faivre, the former Halfpipe World Champion, on board to host the event.
